Administering Appropriate Solutions to Home Fire Damage   by Tom Gilmour

Almost 6,000 Americans die yearly because of fires and over 50,000 suffer fire-related injuries. As estimated, there are over a billion dollars worth of business and residential property thatare being damaged by fire annually. According to the records, the common cause of death in fire is asphyxiation. Asphyxiation happens when the flames eat up the oxygen in the air inside the building and thus produces high concentration of carbon monoxide that is then inhaled by the fire victim. Victims, when trapped and soaked up with the noxious air, often suffocate and eventually will lose consciousness.

According to the Philadelphia Fire Department, there are a lot of potential causes of home fires. Among the most common are:
1. Cigarette Smoking
2. Arson or intentional (16%)
3. Heating system failures (14%)
4. Child carelessness (10%)
5. Electrical wiring faults (10%)
6. Kitchen mishaps (8%)
7. Other known causes (16%)

With the help of local and government institutions, the effort to decrease the causes and damages of fire in the community are being given with priorities by way of developing new fire-prevention technologies. Aside from enforcing information drives, they also encourage establishment and home owners to install one or more of this fire-fighting equipment:
a. Smoke detectors
b. Sensitive water sprinklers
c. Fire extinguishers
d. Fire hydrants
e. Emergency phones

For added safety, here are few of House and Building Fires Emergency measures to remember:
